Jim has danced and performed in Seattle since 2005. His professional life began by performing in works by some of Seattle’s most beloved artists including Molly Scott, Dayna Hanson, zoe | juniper, Saint Genet and Mark Haim. He has danced with Olivier Wevers and Whim W’Him for 11 seasons and has worked with over 30 choreographers during that time.
When dancing Jim thinks deeply about accessing and unveiling compiled information living in the body through approach, sensation, and memory. He loves nuance and the virtuosity of uncovering form through imagination. He also really enjoys and is inspired by a Lavinia Vago floorwork workshop. Freedom through dance, always.
When not Dancing
When not dancing Jim Kent loves to care for his home and plants, and plays the piano whenever possible. The sun and water are his best friends. He worked for many of Seattle’s best restaurants and can turn out a great meal.
