Amelia Reiser

Amelia is an Atlanta-based movement artist, performer, and teacher who believes in movement for every-body. She hopes to help folks find freedom and agency in their own bodies, and offers weekly mindfulness practices for the community through somatic improvisation, public yoga classes, and trauma informed practices with incarcerated youth through non-profit CenteringYouth. In addition to freelance and independent creative work, Amelia has been a collaborative company performer, teacher, and at times (using that virgo power) administrator with staibdance since 2013.
When Dancing
Recently, the radical remembering that dance is born from ritual, and the reclaiming of joy and pleasure has been a guiding force. Nurturing creative impulse and questioning our making of the world through language and body memory, Amelia’s movement practice researches grief and human desires for beauty, pleasure, poetics, validation, and connection.
When Not Dancing
Often you can find Amelia outside, hiking or walking with her dog-daughter Fig (full name: Figgy Smalls), enjoying park hangs with friends or playing in the dirt at the community garden. She also loves intimate dinner parties, art openings, drag shows, and late night DJ sets.
