Sally ButinNew Yorkshe/her
Sally Butin is a Brooklyn based movement artist from Hastings on Hudson, NY. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a BFA in dance. She began taking Dance Church classes online during quarantine, and immediately fell in love with all it offered to a community created around dance.
When Dancing Sally cares deeply about what it means to move with a free body. It is an exhilarating experience to uncover truths within ourselves and access the feelings and virtuosity our bodies hold. She is interested in creating and participating in work that negotiates the personal, political, and social understandings/tragedies of the world. She also celebrates time alone in the studio (which often includes laying still on the floor the whole time).
When not Dancing
When not dancing, Sally likes to indulge in food: steak, potatoes (in all forms), banana pudding, bagels with lox and miso soup. She is trying to become a better chef, with the help of TikTok. Sally loves concerts, spring picnics, long naps, her family, and her family of friends.
