Maya Tacon

Maya was born and raised in New York and graduated from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, where she also studied abroad at Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan. Since transplanting to Seattle, Maya has performed works with contemporary artists including Cameo Lethem, Michele Miller, and Jordan Macintosh-Hougham. Maya is a Pilates instructor and has been a part of the worldwide family of Dance Church since 2018.
When Dancing
She feels the most full and inspired when soaked in sweat and flooded with the joy of activating every cell in her body. Movement is overwhelming the system with fuel. Movement is food. It connects her to all beings, and it is the time when she feels uninhibited and unapologetic. Maya’s mama was a dancer... since entering this world, not a day goes by without a little dose of the grooves.
When not Dancing
Drenching herself in sunshine ~if possible~, with her bestie pup Hazel. Consuming too much coffee and too many tacos, practicing being : a professional snuggler and binge watcher of superhero movies ; a damn good plant mommy ; an active participant in the equity and growth of the Seattle performing arts community! ; a wilderness expert camper ~not progressing~...
